Giles Pepler joined Sero after an outstanding career in schools and Further Education.
He gained a degree in Psychology & Philosophy and a post-graduate teaching qualification at the University of Oxford. Giles worked for 20 years in secondary schools, teaching English and Communications, with 6 years as Headteacher of an urban comprehensive.
Moving to further education, he has been Principal of 3 colleges – an urban tertiary college, a multi-ethnic urban sixth form college and a suburban sixth form college. In addition, from 1992 to 1995 he worked as an education management consultant, first with KPMG and then independently.
Prior to joining Sero, Giles spent 10 years as Principal of Thomas Rotherham College, retiring in 2006. During that period he was also Chair of the ICT Subgroup of the Local Learning Partnership.
His main areas of expertise are management and governance, strategy development, curriculum design and financial planning. Giles also has a strong interest in lifelong learning and the standing of Modern Foreign Languages.
Giles is lead consultant in learning and skills, with especial reference to 14-19 and Adult Education. His specialist focus is on management, change planning and evaluation.
