Background
JISC has appointed Sero Consulting Ltd to undertake a review of the National Grid Service (NGS) to assess the business options for sustainable services. The review, which will report in mid-February, will support the development of a new business model for a sustainable NGS and will determine in what areas the NGS may have to change to meet expectations of researchers and other stakeholders.
The outcomes of the review will be to identify:
- Core services that could be recommended for the JISC Service Portfolio
- Additional services which could be provided on an alternative basis
- Synergies or duplication with existing JISC services and the planned JANET(UK) brokerage service
- Recommended options with the related opportunities and risks
This Survey
The consultants will be gathering information in three ways - through stakeholder interviews, a targeted online survey and two concluding workshops. This approach should maximise the opportunity to gather opinions and correlate evidence in this tight window.
The survey will be open from Wednesday 18 January to Friday 3 February and is open to members of the UK HE community who have experience of the NGS or of research computing more generally, whether as users, managers or interested stakeholders. It should take 6-10 minutes to complete and the information you supply is protected under the Data Protection Act; it will remain anonymous and will only be included in aggregated statistics.
If you have any queries about the survey or the review please email info@sero.co.uk.
