Project:
Library Management Systems: An evaluation and horizon scan of the current library management systems and related systems landscape for UK Higher Education.
Client
The JISC and SCONUL
Partners
Glenaffric Ltd and Ken Chad Consulting Ltd
Background:

The JISC is working towards an online Information Environment that supports effective curation, leading to secure and convenient access to resources to benefit learning, teaching and research. To help with this aim JISC and SCONUL commissioned a project to conduct an evaluation and horizon scan of the current Library Management Systems (LMS) landscape in Higher Education. The project focuses on LMS (including Electronic Resource Management (ERM) systems) but does consider other, related systems too.

Our contribution:

As Project Manager David Kay is leading the evaluation, liaising with JISC and SCONUL and overseeing Risk Management and Quality Assurance of deliverables. Sero is also contributing to the key respondent interviews and focus groups.

Our approach:

Sero’s approach involves nine work packages which combine desk research with a consultation mix including personal interviews, expert groups and survey. These work packages are shared between Sero, Ken Chad Consulting Ltd and Glenaffric Ltd focussing on each party’s strengths and experience. All consultation is underpinned by topic guides and survey instruments, and is informed by the overall framework and initial consultation with a proposed expert group. Analysis and reporting is a two phase process, with interim report findings validated through additional interviews with key respondents.
