Project: |
Assessing E-maturity in Personal Community and Development Learning (PDCL). |
 |
Background: |
The PDCL study is one of four parallel e-maturity studies BECTA has commissioned. The study will seek to find out how e-enabled the community sector is by surveying a number of providers and practitioners. Sero have already conducted a similar study for the Scottish Funding Council which sought to benchmark e-maturity levels in Scotland’s colleges. This report will cover the e-learning provided by voluntary and community organisations, as well as the work of specialist colleges. The subsequent report will help inform the submission BECTA makes for the Comprehensive Spending Review.

Our
contribution: |
Sero are leading a team of 12 specialist associates with Giles Pepler acting as Project Manager. Sero will also be conducting much of the research and support work. |
Our
approach: |
Sero are using an adapted version of BECTA’s e-maturity model which will be tested on small sample group from within the e-maturity sector. Engagement workshops will be carried out around the country before an on-line survey with blog support will be launched. The survey results will then be taken to the original sample group for reference before an interim report is submitted to BECTA. Interviews will be conducted with up to 70 managers, teachers and lecturers from the e-maturity sector before a final series of discussions with NIACE to identify any areas that need further exploration.
