As part of its portfolio development CEL commissioned an online career planning resources to complement its Career Development Service. The target audience included leaders and potential leaders from all parts of FE system including GFE, ACL, WBL, Specialist colleges and people on CEL programmes such as Leadership in Practice who wish to take an optional careers module. The resource consists of eight modules:
- Introduction to career development
- Where am I now in my career? - Self exploration/assessment
- Where do I want to be? - career goals
- How do I get there? – effective job search and application
- Networking skills for leaders
- Work/Life Balance
- Support and development
- Interactive Personal Development Plan

Sero worked with DESQ to lead a team of specialist writers to script the full resource.

Our
approach: |
Reporting to the Project Board and DESQ project team Sero worked with careers specialists nominated by CEL to review existing CEL materials, develop new resources and develop an innovative interactive on-line Personal Development Plan for learners. The approach included the commissioning and scripting of video clips, interactive on-line exercises and links to further resources. At each stage the materials were trialed by potential users and feedback incorporated in the finished product.
