Sponsor:
Yorkshire Forward
Purpose:

Backed by £1.4m from Yorkshire Forward, Rotherham Ready involves all Rotherham schools and colleges, together with a large range of partners, from business to the council. It aims to engage all the borough’s children – from four to 19 – in developing an insight into the world of work and the enterprising skills they will need to shape their future.  Nearly 3,000 local young people have got involved so far.

Our Contribution

We are responsible for marketing and PR strategy, as well as multimedia dissemination services.

Our approach:

We work as part of the Rotherham Ready team and co-ordinate activity across a number of marketing partners – adopting a strategic, yet fast-moving and practical approach to reaching the wide range of target audiences involved in the programme and interested in its progress.

Results:

Rotherham Ready is going from strength to strength, with all schools across the borough now engaged.  The programme has already attracted significant interest nationally and in Europe. Rotherham has been visited by deputations from around the UK including HM Treasury Officials researching best examples of Enterprise Education, representatives of Ofsted and DfES, as well as Scotland’s Determined to Succeed programme. The programme has also featured in The Independent’s Education Supplement and on BBC Radio 4’s Learning Curve.

Comment:

Libby Purves, BBC Radio 4: “This is much more than business studies, isn’t it!”

John Healey MP: “We want to build the long-term future of Rotherham and that means not just investing in the current workforce but also bringing on the next generation.  That’s what Rotherham Ready is about.”
