David Kay – Strategic Development Director
A former teacher and director of a technology company in the education sector, David has consulted nationally and internationally on technology supported learning and libraries, as well as digital curriculum and awards. David also heads up Sero’s Enterprise activities.
Liz Wallis - Managing Director
A marketing specialist, trained as a linguist and primary school teacher, Liz directs the Sero operation and quality assures all programmes, as well as consulting directly on national and regional programmes.
Prof Paul Bacsich – Senior Consultant
Learning technology specialist with a background in e-learning benchmarking, change management, technology, policy and quality issues; active in UK and EU e-learning circles. Currently Visiting Professor at Middlesex University.
Kim Balmer – Researcher
Experienced primary school teacher with a degree in Psychology, a MSc in Social Research Methods and a Cert HE in Intercultural Studies with expertise in working with disadvantaged learners and those typically recognised as ‘hard to reach’.
Linda Barton – Operations Manager
A former customer services and business manager in the IT industry and subsequently for an international training and development company, Linda specialises in managing teams, operations and events.
Dr Ian Chowcat – Head of Learning Innovation
Fomerly of NCSL and Director of the South Yorkshire e-Learning Programme for Sheffield Local Authority, Ian also tutors a Masters Philosophy course for the Open University and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Brigidin Crowther – Head of Creativity
A former Advisory Teacher for multimedia performing arts, Brigidin has worked in broadcasting, international marketing and film making, and prior to joining Sero led the Sheffield ‘Developing Creativity’ project offering young people pathways into the creative industries.
Michael Dodd – Head of Evaluation and Professional Practice
An evaluation specialist with extensive experience of working with clients in the learning and skills sector. Michael has a background in financial services and a keen interest in the digital inclusion agenda.
Helen Harrop
Iain Milner – Accounts Administrator
A Sage Accounts trained finance officer who is the anchor person for the Sero administration.
Giles Pepler – Senior Consultant
A former Headteacher of an urban comprehensive and Principal of three colleges, Giles has consulted for KPMG as well as independently. His main areas of expertise are management and governance, strategy development, curriculum design and financial planning. Giles also has a strong interest in lifelong learning and the standing of Modern Foreign Languages.
Barry Phillips – Senior Consultant
Formerly at the DfES e-Learning Strategy Unit before secondment to Sheffield City Council as Strategic e-Learning Manager, Barry is a specialist in new and emerging technologies for learning, teaching and social inclusion, including work on overseas policy development.
John Popham
Specialist in alternative educational strategies, links between education and regeneration, use of new technologies to engage learners, and social enterprise development.

Prince2 accredited project manager specialising in ICT projects, with a particular interest in inclusion.

A former lecturer and curriculum manager specialising in ICT, Barbara has a strong background in leading staff development in Further Education as well as considerable teaching, curriculum development and management experience.
Philippe Ugochukwu – Project Officer
A musician with a background in Social Sciences, Philippe is experienced in marketing and customer services.
